Maisie married John in August 1948. They were married in Elm Grove Baptist Church. It was a rainy day  and they went to the Isle of Wight for their honeymoon. It was dark and wet when they got there but then next morning when they woke up the sun was shining.

John and his brother Will had their own building and decorating business. Maisie ran the home and took good care of her husband and children when they came along. 

She knitted and sewed clothes for all her children. She made the best birthday cakes for them all. Her family were her world. She still had her love of music and musicals. She loved Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers films in particular. Maisie and John went to see musicals and light operettas at the Kings Theatre. She was always singing.
